Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about WellVersed.

What is WellVersed?

WellVersed is a learning companion that transforms your non-fiction books into a complete retention system. Upload any PDF or EPUB, and WellVersed generates chapter-by-chapter summaries, comprehension challenges, flashcards, audio lectures, key terms, and concept maps — then uses spaced repetition to help you actually remember what you read. It's designed for long, dense non-fiction where the ideas matter more than the author's prose.

How does content generation work?

When you process a chapter, WellVersed analyzes the text and generates structured summaries, key term definitions, comprehension questions, and concept maps. This typically takes 1–3 minutes per chapter. Your content is processed securely and is never used to train models.

What file formats are supported?

WellVersed supports both PDF and EPUB files. Simply upload from your device or file manager. The app automatically detects chapters and organizes content into learning-ready units.

Is my data safe?

Yes. Your uploaded books are processed securely and are only used to deliver WellVersed's services to you. We use HTTPS/TLS encryption, bcrypt password hashing, and access-controlled cloud storage. Your book content is never shared or used to train models. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How does spaced repetition work?

WellVersed uses the SM-2 algorithm to schedule your reviews at scientifically optimal intervals. After you complete a challenge session, the app calculates when you're most likely to start forgetting the material and schedules a review just before that happens. The more you review, the longer the intervals become — eventually moving concepts into long-term memory.

How much does it cost?

WellVersed is free to use as a reader — read and annotate your books, set spaced repetition reminders, all at no cost. AI features (summaries, flashcards, challenges, and more) are pay-as-you-go, and you get a $1 signup credit to try them. Audio narration is always free. A typical 300-page book costs $0.50–$1.50 to process. For cloud storage, cross-device sync, unlimited AI chat, and $3/month in AI funds, upgrade to Pro at $4.99/month.

How do credits work?

Credits are consumed when you generate AI learning content — summaries, flashcards, challenges, key terms, and more. Audio narration is free. Each feature costs fractions of a cent per chapter. Pro subscribers receive $3/month in AI funds automatically. You can top up your wallet anytime from the app. Credits never expire.

Can I use WellVersed offline?

Partially. Once a chapter is processed, you can read summaries, review flashcards, and listen to audio offline. However, generating new content and the Q&A chat feature require an internet connection.

What devices are supported?

WellVersed is available on Android and as a web app. Your account syncs across all devices. iOS support is coming soon.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel your subscription anytime. You'll keep access until the end of your billing period, and all previously generated content remains accessible.

Is WellVersed suitable for fiction books?

WellVersed is designed specifically for non-fiction — books where the ideas, arguments, and concepts are what matter. For fiction, where the author's voice, narrative, and prose are the experience, summarization loses much of the value. We recommend WellVersed for any long, dense non-fiction where you want to deeply understand and retain the material.
